Multi-award-winning musician, Shubhranill Sarkar, aged just 22, represents a young generation of Indian harmonica players who are gently bringing traditional Indian music into the modern age. The musician, who hails from Howrah in West Bengal, initially studied Indian popular music (Rabindra Sangeet) and classical Western music at the Banichakra Music and Dance Training College in Kolkata.

With the “Shubhranill Sarkar Harmonica Project”, he now devotes himself with great virtuosity and dedication to classical Indian music and its transformation into young, modern music. Beautiful ragas meet Indian folk music, film melodies from Bollywood, and international songs. ‘I want to share the unique sound of the harmonica with the audience in an emotional, colourful and cross-cultural way,’ says the young musician himself.

At the HARMONICA FEN FESTIVAL, he will be accompanied by Kingshuk Mukhopadhyay and Arnab Roy.
